American League

The American League is for school ages Kindergarten through 12th grade (see Colt for exceptions on older ages). All divisions except Colt have minimum participation rules. All players register with LSBA.

Important American League Dates:

American League registration ends March 7th but late fees will be assessed starting February 14th. Once late sign ups start each year you are no longer guaranteed a spot or you may lose your spot from the previous season.  Don't wait to sign up!

The American League season generally starts around the last Friday of April or first Friday of May every year.

There is no American League baseball on several weekends throughout the season as there are baseball tournaments at Legacy on those dates. Please visit this link for those dates. Additionally, no baseball on Mother's Day or Memorial Day weekend.

T-Ball - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to Kindergarten this fall. It is a non-competitive training division, no scores are kept, and the fundamentals of baseball are taught. The baseball is hit off a "tee", all players play in the field at least every other inning and all teams bat the roster. Players are placed on teams by the Division Representative. Parents may request that a player be placed on a specific team and, if possible, the request will be honored.

Coach Pitch - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 1st grade this fall.  It is a non-competitive training division, no scores are kept, and the fundamentals of baseball are taught. Coaches pitch to the batter, all players play in the field at least every other inning and all teams bat the roster. Players are placed on teams by the Division Representative. Parents may request that a player be placed on a specific team and, if possible, the request will be honored.

Rookie 7 - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 2nd grade this fall. It is a non-competitive training division, no scores are kept, and the fundamentals of baseball are taught. A pitching machine is used, all players play in the field at least every other inning and all teams bat the roster. Players are placed on teams by the Division Representative. Parents may request that a player be placed on a specific team and, if possible, the request will be honored.

Pinto 8 - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 3rd grade this fall. A pitching machine is used, all players play in the field at least every other inning and all teams bat the roster. Players are placed on teams by the Division Representative. Parents may request that a player be placed on a specific team and, if possible, the request will be honored.

Mustang 9 - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 4th grade this fall. Players are assigned to a team through either a draft, recruitment (two per team), or sponsor designated player (one per team). Each player must play at least every other inning in the field and players bat the roster.

Mustang 10 -This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 5th grade this fall. Players are assigned to the team they played with in Mustang 9. New players are assigned through a draft. Each player must play at least every other inning in the field and players bat the roster.

Bronco 11- This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 6th grade this fall. Players are assigned to a team through either a draft, recruitment (three per team), or sponsor designated player (one per team). Each player must play at least two innings in the field in before the completion of the fifth inning and players bat the roster.

Bronco 12 -This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 7th grade this fall. Players are assigned to the team they played with in Bronco 11. New players are assigned through a draft. Each player must play at least two innings in the field in before the completion of the fifth inning and players bat the roster.

Pony - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 8th and 9th grade this fall. Players are assigned to a team through either a draft, recruitment (four per team), or sponsor designated player (one per team). Each player must play at least two innings in the field before the completion of the fifth inning and players bat the roster.

Colt - This division is for players who meet the school age requirement and are going to 10th/11th/12th grade this fall or have graduated this year. All games are in Lee’s Summit. The Colt season will not start until High School baseball in LSR7 is complete.
