Why doesn't league follow the age cut off of the school district?

LSBA follows what we believe to be a proper age cut off for baseball ages. We and most leagues in our area follow the idea that kids should be 5 years old before they play. So since games start every year around May 1st we believe all kids need to be 5 years old by April 30th. Baseball is different than some sports like basketball and soccer. Those sports allow players to start playing at a younger age, but those sports don’t need helmets and aluminum bats and or a hard ball that is hit right at the players. For these reasons most baseball leagues like ours to be very restrictive with the ages. Per the LSBA bylaws, all American League players must play in the appropriate league dictated by their age. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
