All-Star Activities

Lees Summit Baseball Association
All-Star Game

1. Number of teams

We have the following number of teams in the AL this year:
TB5: 9
CP6: 14
R7: 17
P8: 14
M9: 8
M10: 9
B11: 5
B12: 7
Pony: 9
Colt: 8

We will not have All-Star teams for TB, CP, or R7.  We will have two teams in all divisions, except for Pinto 8 (we will have 4 All-Star teams for Pinto 8). This means one All-Star Game per division (except 2 games for P8)

2. Players per team

All-Star teams will have the following number of players per division:

P8: 12 per team (48 total)
M9: 13 per team (26 total)
M10: 14 per team (28 total)
B11: 11 per team (22 total)
B12: 12 per team (24 total)
Pony: 14 per team (28 total)
Colt: 13 per team (26 total)

Players will be selected by managers, but we strongly encourage this not to be the Coaches’ Kids’ teams. We would like to have teams have their players vote. We will ask the coaches to send us the maximum number of all-stars.  (Number of player per team explained in Exhibit 2)

3. Events
We will have four events other than the All-Star Games. These will be: (1) Around the Horn; (2) Accurate Throw; (3) Speed competition; and (4) Home Run Derby.

Each team will have one representative in the Accurate Throw, Speed competition, and Home Run Derby. No player can compete in more than one event. We would also encourage coaches to have players other than All-Stars participate in the events. Teams will participate as a team in Around the Horn.

Around the Horn will be a team based competition.  The rules for the competitions are below as Exhibit 1.

4. Schedule
Friday, July 15: Introduction, parade of players, and Around the Horn
- Festivities will begin at 6:00 PM
- All players and coaches should attend, along with spectators
- Introduction will include opening remarks (we need to try to get a loudspeaker or something similar), then we will line up spectators along the grass and will have all of the players in attendance walk through the park.
- Around the Horn competitions will begin after parade
- Schedule for Around the Horn; divisions with two fields will be divided up to have half of their teams on one field and the other half on the other field.
